Mike Taylor Consulting has been actively involved in sponsoring children in south east Asia for several years now working with orphanages and villages and community programs throughout South East Asia.

Some programs have little or no funding and rely solely on donations. We have focused a lot of time and funding on supporting agencies and projects that rescue children from child trafficking which is unfortunately still happening in these countries. Each year Mike travels to these areas and supports these children with whatever they need to grow and have a better life.

The facts are haunting.

1. Massive undercount: at least 1.2 million children trafficked globally each year.

Estimates from the International Labour Organization indicate up to 1.2 million children are trafficked annually worldwide, with Southeast Asia being a major source and transit region. (UNICEF)
Experts emphasize this is likely a significant underestimate, since most cases go undetected.

2. The majority of trafficking in Southeast Asia happens close to home.

About 88% of trafficking in Southeast Asia and the Pacific is intraregional or domestic—meaning children are often trafficked within their own country or neighboring ones, not across distant borders. (UNICEF PDF)

3. Over 1.27 million child migrants in ASEAN are at high risk.

In 2020 alone, there were 1.27 million international child migrants in Southeast Asia (ASEAN). (UNICEF)
A large share migrate irregularly, placing them at elevated risk of trafficking, forced labor, and sexual exploitation.
